Anger

Anger

A Poem by MOON

So the silence rages in your head,

You believe all love is dead.

Diets of bitter seeds fed,

This is life this is where you have fled.

Around you on eggshells we tread

Lofty promises and laughter shred

Blackened you have taken to your bed.

Opening old wounds and the past long dead.

Here I come with glowing smiles all clad.

You bite your lip, you believe you led,

To the undoing, love crimson red.

Still to the demons of your mind you are wed.

I agree with Angelink, I think that last line is the most powerful and thus my favourite. I like that it takes the struggle with this emotion in to the spiritual realm, as well as having it displayed out in the world and within oneself. Very good write.

Really got into this, you weave quatrains together really nicely. It never seems like constant rhyme is ever going to work, so I usually break it, but in this case turned out pretty cool. Nice write

This makes me think of places where our minds can take us...dark dungeons that we sit in and will not look at the "glowing smiles" that hold the key. Guilt, regret, and constant "diets of bitter seeds" can become an addiction at the cost of the freedom we are offered by those around us. I sense there is a story behind this and it is a sad one...just my thoughts.

Note on your photo: ‘The Scream’ is one of my favourite paintings! It spreads out the existential angst of the subject against the evening sky portraying most poignantly Sartre’s concept of nausea. But I digress- so back to the anguish conveyed in this piece…

I find your exploration of silence & the psychological demons that plague the mind very interesting. The dread of nothingness becomes poetically Sartrean in nature, as the wound opens itself to existential anxiety. A good read.

Amazing...such an accurate expression of deep anger, depression and all the darkness that swallows any attempt to llift the soul from its sadness. the last line is powerful- brings back memories of the old me, i'm afraid. Very well written
