Caged Voices

CAGED VOICES

Every word, it means the world.
They were composed with my heart's strings.
The answers they receive- it stings
Although they mostly die unheard.

Talking to the night relieves the pain,
Coiled up in the pillows like a frozen snake,
But it's known it gets worse when wide awake
So I hide from myself, waiting for warm waves to drown the rain.

Fake dialogue, complex melodies defending-
Taking up the task of mending
Together what's left of my self-esteem.

Now, I am ready for another game
Where I won't laugh in vain,
Where I won't leave unseen.
