The Differents

The Differents

A Poem by Ki
"

the project for English is about feeling unwanted

"
The road she walks down
Is black and torn
It is full of flaws
She can feel the eyes of thousands
Taunting her
They want her gone
This is her road
But she doesn't belong
She is one of the Differents.
The road she wants to walk
Is a rainbow of colors
No one is the same
But they are treated as equals
There is love there
There is acceptance here
The people are few but proud
She belongs here
She is one of the Differents.
She's forced in the world of the Sames
Everyone is like the other
The Differents don't stand a chance
Of belonging
Anyone who is a different color
Or speaks a different language
Or is a different sexual orientation
Or who thinks differently
Is Different.
The girl needs to leave
The streets of Sameness
And to her home of the Differents
But the Sames want to change her
They think she can become
One of the Sames
They caught her
They tried to make her into one of their clones.
But this girl is Different.
This girl is strong.
This girl can't be like all the others.
She is Different.

I like the line "They tried to make her into one of their clones." Do I know that feeling well!

Thanks for putting into words this sentiment. Execellent theme.

It is good to be different, even if that means being excluded. :)
Everyone has something to contribute, that's why we ARE all different. Excellent write, my friend.
