Chapter (21) MEADOW SWEET

Chapter (21) MEADOW SWEET

A Chapter by MAD ENGLISHMAN

MEADOW SWEET.

No effort shown from russet wings

As warm air through silent feathers sings,

Bright eyes of orange, sharp and keen

Search down for life as yet unseen.

Dropped like a stone from air to ground

sharp talons killed and made no sound.

This death a gift in time of need

her chicks in nest await to feed.

The wings of Damsels quick and blue

criss cross a stream of silvered hue.

As Swallows swoop in cottoned sky

I watch and wish that I could fly.

And I lay in tall grasses warm

with Bees and insects in summers swarm.

A field kissed golden by the summers' heat,

a shimmering sea of rolling wheat.

Remembering when we two lay here

We kissed and shared our love so dear.
Now an arm across my eyes to shade

against the sun,

and the dreams we made.

Thank you. It was a perfect moment. I hope I managed to capture it little of it.
This captures the attentive eye of all nature lovers! Your rhyming is off the charts and held me spellbound from one line to the next!

Thank you Kelly. I'm happy you enjoyed it.
This is lovely... such a bold contrast between the sharp, killing talons to the sweetness of the summer's day.

i love this M.E.
A beautiful snapshot of an idyllic day spent in the bosom of nature. The whole poem can turn on the interpretation of the final line - are the dreams being made (i.e. physical intimacy) or are they indicative of things that werent accomplished and like the bright sun, hurt to experience them or are they the icing on the cake - dreams that have been fulfilled and another part of the tapestry of a perfect day.
Nice one M.E.
