DEDICATED TO MY EX MOTHER IN LAW IN POLAND.

       BABCIA.

Babcia, that's my ex wifes' mum,

Well, it seems that she has become,... very ill.

I knew her, just for a while. I remember her, and smile.

Hard working, a loving mother, but she didn't smother her kids.

Tried to show them the right way.

Work hard, love God and you'll be rewarded, someday.

I married her daughter, Renata, beautiful with hair of gold,

I loved her, still do if truth be told.

Our son, not the apple of Babcias’ eye, but a whole tree,

Just as he is, to his mum and me.

Babcia is in pain now and I am here helpless.

Don't know how to say I'm sorry.

The doctors say it's reached stage four,

they don't know what more... they can do.

It's undeserved, it's just not fair.

She was widowed young, but for her kids a heroine unsung.

A struggled life but she raised them well,

proud today I'm sure of all three,

and to see they all have happy lives.

My son, he's now twenty, flew out last week to be there.

To share with his mother the pain and the memories.

We all pray she will recover, me too, just as much as any other.

She's had the op, we all hope it will stop, the spread.

And as she lies in her bed, she will not give in,

she will take her pills, loose her hair, she will not care,

And her family will be there to hold her hand and say

        Babcia we love you.
