Chapter (11) TO MAKE SOMEONE SMILE

Chapter (11) TO MAKE SOMEONE SMILE

A Chapter by MAD ENGLISHMAN

To make Someone Smile.

I’m seeing all these people,

they’re not walking, they’re trudging.

They look so depressed, am I judging them wrong.

Why does everyone seem so stressed?

That expression, it’s called depression,

but why?

I’ve walked the high street mile,

all these people in the streets,

No-one greets them.

No one cares.

I say “Hi”

I try to look them in the eye, and smile.

A woman scurries away, a few look in my direction.

One man gives me a slight nod of the head,

it’s something, though it’s not perfection,

there was nothing said.

Mouths down turned stay fixed and trudge

I don’t know them, so why should I judge,

But I ask myself “What does it take?”

To make

Someone smile.

The forgotten people… well penned poetic commentary on the condition of those most in need of kindness and compassion.
