For Him

For Him

A Poem by MadamHatter

For Him
I loved you for a summer
that has not yet left my heart
but burns with the heat of the stars
we loved to look at.

I took my love and tried to kill it,
bury it deep in ice and stone
so that it could not hurt us
any more.

But like those stars and lights
we loved,
my love has never faded.
Instead it sits silently weeping for you,

beating at the walls I
tried and failed to build to enclose it.
Like a broken bird it flutters and
my heart beats out of time.

I loved you for a summer
that has not yet left my heart
but burns deep inside and
scorches my fingers when I try to tear it out.

Sounds like a 'summer romance' where you got your fingers burnt and your heart broken! Emotional strong imagery and wordplay - nice one ... :-)
