Meant to be?

Meant to be?

A Poem by Mairwen

Nothing could describe my surprise
When the broken key fit the broken lock.
Was it mended? It wondered,
Or was it right as a broken clock?
Nope, still broken,
It found as it pulled away,
But though it knew it wouldn’t last,
That the key eventually would snap,
The key and the lock met anyway.

I really like this and my immediate association here was 'abductive reasoning' and all that - in the sense two things can be 'similarly wrong'; so it does have some philosophical elegance, dare I say.
Also, such quiet perspectival shifts - as this describes the world as a key sees it - go a long way in shaping our understanding of Nature.

Hope to read more of your work.

How “fitting”. Ha.

Broken as we be I’de rather know you and you know me…

I enjoyed reading your poem.
