Waiting For The Winter

Waiting For The Winter

A Poem by Mairwen

Feeling as if a romantic partner is pulling away from you and falling for someone else (who may or may not be named Amber)

I found myself surrounded by amber trees as I wandered through the woods,
My heart in my head, my head in the trees.
They begin to mock me, as if baring prophecies
of what there is, what there isn't,
What I wish there was
between me and you.
I have watched the snowdrops peek through the snow,
Seen roses bloom,
Felt warmth,
Felt heat,
Learned to dance with you in the rain.
But I sense our air growing crisper,
Feel the distance like a tight thread,
Though it might be in my head,
It must be said.
How ironic that the trees turn Amber.
