Handicap

Handicap

A Poem by Manda
"

She is paralyzed for life... trapped for life inside her body.

"
How can one live
When you have nothing to live for?

How can one live
When you're invincible to the world?

***

How would you feel
If you couldn't do anything?

What if you couldn't go to the movies
Or go shopping with your friends?

What if you were forced to stay home
Unable to have any fun?

What if when people looked at you
They laughed?

What if everyday....
You were forced to let others help you?

How would you feel?

Would you feel trapped
Inside your body?

***

I know that is how my sister feels.

Everyday I watch her
In the corner of my eye.

And each day
I just want to cry...

She struggles
Through life.

I watch her try to fight her strengths
But she never seems to win.

Her bones are too weak
And never seem to budge.

***

I ask God one question,
Why?

Why, did you choose her?

Why did you have to make her
Handicap?

This is such a touching poem! I'm sorry for your sister. I know what it's like to ask God why he choose someone. But I understand now that he doesn't. It's just the unfortunate events of life. I know lots of people will tell you they "understand." maybe some do maybe some don't. I only understand how it must be like. I lost my sister to cancer so enjoy your sister while you still have her hear. All the best wishes go to you and her! :)

I felt this one. Such genuine emotion; I really felt the pain of you and your sister while reading this. Keep y'all's heads up.

Anyone that would at your sister because of condition should be drug out into the street and beaten with a nail studded bat. This was a very nice write and my heart and prayers go to you and yours. Just make life as good for her as you can. Spend time with her and show her that you love her, that she's not alone.

Sad that some people end up in this condition. It would be so so hard.

manda, this was really great.
i'm so sorry about your sister.
i believe that though it is completely normal to ask the question "Why me, or why him or why her" it is also apt to ask the question "why not me, why not him or why not her"
and i'm not saying that to be harsh. it must be really hard for you to go through each day seeing her like that, especially thinking of all the things you can do that she can't.
this poem.. it just grabbed me in.. and threw me out.. and it was in one word..
fantastic.
you opened my eyed to another side of the situation.

Very emotional and powerful and it would be nice to know the answer to your question, I'm sure.

The beginning is a tad weak, but I really understand the pain from which this came. And I think the emotion is there even though it wasn't well executed... I see aLOT of potential here. So much so you can't imagine. Might even inspire me to write. . .and if that be so, than I should thank you for this piece. For its inspiration.
