Forever

When she thinks she's gone forever.... She really isn't

You’re gone…
Forever

That’s what they say
But are you?

As I sit upon my windowsill
A butterfly swoops to my side

It’s wings a bright yellow
And its eyes a familiar blue

You stare at me
Showing no signs of fear

I put my hand out
Hoping maybe it would climb on

And it did!
It clasped itself upon my left finger

I  held up my hand
To let it fly away

As it did
I took one last look

Watching it gracefully fly away
Into the light blue sky

And once it was out of sight
It hit me like a bag of rocks!

It was her
Our beautiful Jeannie!

They had been wrong
She wasn’t gone

She was here to stay
Forever....

Author's Note

I wrote this to my family and I who have recently just lost a loved one... Hope it means as much to me as it does to anyone who reads this!

And Jeannie you wont ever be forgotten! We love you so much!

I've never really had a faith in the idea that spirits may or may not exist, but this made me believe. While reading it it was like each of your words and in every line possessed my mind to feel, experience and remember everything you were trying to portray here.
