Military and Zombie. survival with some over-the-top things.

“Sarge!” Yelled a man off in the distance as a grenade blew up, making all sound disappear.

“Sarge needs medical attention now!” exclaimed Matthew,  a soldier in the squad.

“On it, cover me!” exclaimed a squadmate. As he stepped out into the open a shot hit the ground less than two feet away. He dove back behind cover and ran for Sarge and took out his defibrillator and charged it up. Another shot landed nearby as he touched the defibrillator to Sarges chest.

“Josh!” yelled a soldier after seeing a huge water tower fall directly where he was standing. The tower had many rungs on it. They were colored as if a five year old had gone wild with crayons. The tower rolled as Josh ran, but the tower whirled down the hill and at the bottom it caught up with Josh pinning his legs beneath the tremendous weight and hitting his head putting him into a coma.

                                                                                        *        *        *

“Where am I?” Josh said to himself as he stood from a dry, creaky bed left in a hospital room. The room was bright and smelled of decay. The door was bolted shut and a hole was in the door. As Josh looked out the hole something moved across the hall. “Hello!” he called out. Snarling came from the other side of the door and as it got closer he saw a decayed body that wreaked.

“Oh you must be Reek.” said Josh. More snarling and he realised that this was no living human. It had changed into something else. He believed that he was dreaming, he pinched himself and kicked the floor hard but nothing seemed to work. Zombies are not real. He looked around the room for something sturdy to make a weapon. The room had many surgical tools, and metal poles. He began to form a spear-like weapon. He used a scalpel from the drawer, a pole from the I.V. stand and some tape from the counter. He made a makeshift weapon. The scalpel fit through the hole in the door. He tried to stick the scalpel through the door but he was shaking so bad  he could not get the weapon through for nearly five minutes. When he got it through he pushed the pole really hard at the zombie and it went through the zombie like a hot knife through butter.He then tugged on the weapon and it would not budge. So Josh decided to unbolt the door. It was closed by four bolts, two on the top and two on the bottom. They were rusty but not unusable. Josh reached up and slid the bolts to the right with a little tug. As he bent down to move the floor bolts he saw a picture on the ground, his family, the Squad. He picked it up and put it into his pocket. He caught a glimpse of writing on the back of the picture and pulled it out of his pocket and turned it around. The back said, meet the squad at Charlie. Charlie was the last place his squad and him met up in the states. The location was a few blocks from where he was in a fortified bunker that their friend Bowman made in case of a disaster. He had so much food he could feed a squad for a year or two. He had solar panels for energy and solar plumbing. He ran off the grid. He was a gamer in his free time. He had many systems but only xbox no playstation as he believed that xbox was superior. He had so much money from family members passing away that he could buy enough titanium to plate his car and diamond to make his windows. His tires were Coreseal tires, they sealed automatically after getting punctured. The windows were many plates of diamond so that the windows were still clear. He listened to many songs by a youtuber named BrySi. His favorite song was I’m sorry, Little Doggy. He listened to it so many times he could recite it from memory and could make any of us leave if he wanted. He annoyed us easily. Josh wiped a tear from his face and started jogging to Charlie. When he reached the end of the hallway he turned and ran faster to the door as he had many things following him from the rooms he had passed. He shoved through the door and ran down the street. It was covered in debris and had vehicles everywhere. Josh ran between many flaming cars and smoking vehicles. He got to Charlie and knocked on the door. Someone on the other side of the door calls out,

“What is the code”?

“Star-Five” responded Josh.

“Star-Five clearance granted” responded the unknown man. The door opened and Josh recognised the man as Bowman.

“Hey Bowman” said Josh excitedly. “I was hoping you were living still, the world is s**t. What happened?”

“The enemy decided to release a toxin and it only affects most people, we are safe due to our extensive shots.” acknowledged Matthew.

This is a great start to a zombie survival story. It needs some refinement, but overall a great start.
