Concrete Bodies, Have You The Time?

Concrete Bodies, Have You The Time?

A Poem by marisa starkilicious
"

This is my world of steel.

"

Concrete Bodies, Have You The Time?

Arms banded with steel, my head in the sky, a crown of clouds and blackest smoke

Far-reaching limbs to stretch out over nations I yearn to buy

And I wrap them around a wildly spinning orb dangling from its string

While my fingers play with players torn, worn, against the sleet and rain

Business suits and Italian leather, watches of black soil prayers

I, the king of rats, pull the wooden sticks to a song I

Narrate, design, open my mouth wide to swallow society, to

Stack concrete bodies atop one another, I wish to block out the sky

The next two poems I post will be in formats I don't really use. This was inspired by the time period of 1865-1900 in America, when we had men like Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan, and John D. Rockefeller. I like to write about history, so I might do it more often.

I want to do something else like this, but to put them in a more positive light.

Very nice personification here. This sort of made me think of Ozymandias by Shelley (which is one of my favorites) I like the line "open my mouth wide to swallow society" I think you really captured the feel of the time period. Well done :)
