Faith Lost

Faith Lost

A Poem by Marisa del Toro

George Pell convicted of sexual abuse in 2019. Dedicated to all sexual abuse victims that nobody believed in until now.

Faith Lost

You made me believe there was a heaven

A god that would protect us

Who saved us from our sins

You made me believe there was a hell

Forced me to confess

For sins I apparently committed

While your minds lust festered

Perversion was your lens

Just like the wicked wolf in that fairy-tale

You hid under the cardinal red robe,

A predator among the innocent

You stole the voices of those choir boys

Who will never sing again

The stained glass windows of St Patricks

The ascension to heaven and Mary full of grace

Now darkened by your actions

Gods covenant, now disgraced

The Holy See and Vatican

Can no longer veil your secret

My faith now lies with the court of justice

I can see now why god, could be, your only witness

You stole the, voices of choir boys. That's quiet powerful line. Abusing in catholic church take all the centuries of western civilization. That covering of crimes make Vatican more darkest place. Your poem make very, strong statement. Sad is there more religion organization who.abuse and abuse children. But I think real question is how we,can heal.all this wounded and raped souls. How anyone can still believe at god in name of Catholic church. Thanks for poem with deep.message.

Thanks Free Will. M:)
and God is none too happy with what has been going on for so long in the Church...
this is a really powerful poem dealing with such an insanely awful issue.
I grew up Catholic, was an altar boy...lucked out...no abuse...but i sure feel for those who did not escape and shame on the church for the covering up that was done for so long and still is being done.

A well written poem . . . although a sad story these things to be revealed to weed out a perverse tendency in the RCC. I read where Francis is getting serious about purging his church of such evil. Speaking as a former Catholic I pray he succeeds.

maybe not . . . but let's hope anyway!
Recently I saw a news report that said over 100 priests were accused of molestation. I think being an imposter in the church is a great way to take advantage of children under the guise of a man of God.

I'm also reminded of the man they call John of God. He also took advantage of people under the guise of a healer. The devil is busy these days.
