When I get to heaven

When I get to heaven

A Poem by Mark D

The most troublesome start to adulthood
Has blessed me with a freedom from need

My clothes are stained and torn
A testament to my abandonment
And my rag cloaked dreams of fame

I hear the sound of drums and glory
I am an engineer of happiness

When I get to heaven
I'll be a well dressed man

I've just read a good number of your poems, and I love the style! You write with such brevity it makes me jealous! I look forward to achieving that in my own writing, and you are the perfect example! This one in particular is beautiful.

Beautiful and vain, I love the poetic touch of this. And the peaceful embrace.
