The Taper

The Taper

A Poem by Dave

                                    The Taper

A taper flickers gently in the breeze that flows easily,

shedding its light in the still  darkening room.

A shadow of you, softly moving, nightgown clad,

softly you come to me, brush my hair, kiss my lips.

My arms reach up to hold you, to feel your warmth,

no resistance do you offer, sweet submission instead.

Nightgown and sheets disappear with a torrent of kisses,

the taper flickers intensely as the flames of love grow.

Nice spill of romantic thoughts that grow increasingly steamy & seductive. I've had a few hallucinations like this lately, myself. I think it's a pitfall of old age *wink! wink*! One exception to your flow of ideas . . . when I see "taper" (think about physical form) . . . well, let's just say your poem has different imagery repercussions for women readers (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
