The Calm of the NightA Poem by Dave The Calm of the Night Quiet waters now find their way to the sandy shore earlier pounded by the surging, pounding waves the storm has long since passed on its way, inviting gulls to again fill the sky. Low lying strips of grey clouds each tinted below by the last rays of the setting sun, red, pink a hint of orange, as a masterful painting. The sun lowers more and the clouds are now only grey, they move further apart as the sky turns to darkness. Gulls with their screeching have long gone away and except for the quiet waves there is nothing but silence. The afternoon clouds have just about disappeared far apart from each other. The first sliver of the full moon shines through the widening break. It sends its beam of light across the sea. Not yet high enough to blot out the shine of the emerging stars. With all of this the night is calm.
