Drawn to the Flame

Drawn to the Flame

A Poem by Dave

                                          Drawn to the Flame
We met and I was drawn to you as a moth is drawn to the flame,

the flickering glow of you was so enticing, drawing me further.

I could not stay away, resist the beauty you offered in your light,

with carefree air you pulled me toward you as though  not caring.

Caring not what will happen when I'm at last taken by the fire of you,

knowing the danger, I ignore it, still wanting to feel the heat of you.

Closer, ever closer knowing I shouldn't, I needed to feel the flame,

it consumed me in a flash leaving only ashes and a broken heart
