War and Peace

War and Peace

A Poem by Jay
"

The struggle we're faced with each day

"
You know.... I found myself thinking one day how easy it would be to just walk off the face of the earth
To be done with this dreadful and overbearing pain in my heart that only seems to intensify as they days linger on
Once and for all I dream of no longer having to endure the melody of this heartache and pain
Like a record scratched and broken this song of misery
This melody of sadness and defeat sooths the souls of those as broken as I
This pain, the feeling of losing and starting over only to lose again.
This endless cycle of regret.....when does it end?

With the weight of the world on my shoulders
and the weight of my pride on my chest
is it any wonder, that I'm gasping for air?
Breathing becoming a harder task to accomplish, in a world so bent out of shape and polluted to its very core
Finding beauty in the small things that surround us
It's what keeps dreamers like me alive and hopeful each day. Hopeful and willing to succeed after being defeated countless times by the same life that promised eternity
Whether it be the beauty you find in the smile of a passing face or the comfort you take in the joy of someone you love
Finding a way to make even the most hopeless and dreary days worth taking on
A battle in its own right that each person must decide on their own each day whether or not it is a battle worth fighting.
A fight to determine whether or not you as a person are human enough to accept change and accomplish greatness
Or one to decide whether or not you'll sit idley by as the world progresses and time itself decides to leave you behind.......A message to dreamers like you and me on the verge of being forgotten by time itself.

~Only the thoughts and promises of a better tomorrow, can ever hope to possibly bring some semblance of joy to an existence made to be as free as a  bird in its cage. Wanting to be free is its only wish..... but hoping for the key to his freedom is the reason he'll never leave his cage.~

Someone who knows and understands

It is the reality that you narrates, eye opener for those who are not yet convinced by the sorrowful events happening nowadays.

Thank you for taking the time to read and understand this poem ^_^
You're words once again are sooooo captivating. This poem comes across in my eyes as a man or woman who is at the end of their tether - is one the verge of giving up, seeing the destruction of mankind both in physical apperance and his or her very own personal and emotional turmoils which may have come and passed.

The 11th and 12th line down in paragraph 2 are all too real. How true it is how some of us battle and try to decide on whether we want to make a difference or not.

I think you're poetry is wonderful and again it never fails me in provoking my thoughts about mankind and this human race we live in.

Mark.
