Wavering love

Wavering love

A Poem by Mary Helda
"

To have a friend who can not proudly introduce you to his friends

"
His love blooms like a splendid
sun-kissed lily behind
closed doors....
Around friends-
it withers like the setting sun
settling into dusk.

A love that must be reviewed. Intimidated by friends or ashamed of his love. To different reasons, but I have not walked in his shoes. Well done.

A lover because he's comfortable with you behind closed doors, but fear overpowers in the real world. Very likely a man with empathy and a good heart. Or a jerk, who should get kicked to the curb real soon. hahaha

Your emotions truly show in your quite brief poem, gently laid they are, however.

Not sure that you're wanting comments on your poem OR, advice as to how to deal with your ongoing relationship. Only you can know what kind of man you're with. Is he a lover, a friend or an opportunist!

As to your poetry, keep writing, give in to your feelings, use your gift.. eventually the emotions and the perfected words will melt hearts. Be sure of that, Mary.

Mary this is beautifully poetic. 'Like a splendid sun kissed lily behind closed doors'. Oh my! 'Like the setting sun settling into dusk' ... almost as nice, for me anyway. I'd have preferred 'sinking' (a) because it's less complimentary, and (b) because it avoids slight jarring with 'setting'. One of these days I will give unequivocal praise without 'suggestions'!!!

As others have said, this is NOT real love. Candlelit romance and 'just we 2' may have their place but show me how things are amongst the hurly burly in bright glaring daylight.

Best regards
Nigel

I imagine this is a complex man and he may feel that he cannot be his true self around his friends not vice versa - who is to say your are not seeing the real man and he puts this front on for his friends for whatever reason. But Its better to try at least to be the same. They say whichever way a man acts around his family will be the real him for they know him too well to be able to fool them. That would be the litmus test I feel.
And...
you could always ask him why.
Good imagery Mary Helda.

A person who genuinely values you, will have enough courage to respect and accept you for who you are in front of the whole world. Anybody can pretend to be a Romeo behind closed doors but his pretence won't stand in the test of time.
Leave that rogue!

Well your words are emotive and well framed!
Loved the brevity!
