Leaves

Leaves

A Poem by Maskedthoughts

I feel like a torn leaf in the midst of fall

Floating across the forest floor

Avoiding the crushing footfalls of the pass buyers

I feel small and lost

I wonder where I’ve gone?

I search the great valleys for a sign of myself

For a glimmer of the truth

I search the thick blades of grass

Trying to understand why everything feels so crass

Im searching and searching

I don't know what to find

I feel like I've lost my mind.

I’m spinning and spinning

Like the breeze on the water

I long to be rooted like the trees

To know how to sway to the breeze

Instead of falling to my knees

I learned from the leaves

Now it's time to find myself and travel to the wide open seas

I feel like a fawn emerging into the light for the first time at dawn

Stumbling through the flowers getting stronger with the hours

Finding my inner power and blooming like the closed up flower.

Slowly I trek on through the woods and into the open

Promising to always remember the great forest bloom

Knowing I’ll be back soon.

Finding yourself in the world is tough and I love the reference to the leaves and the cohesion throughout the poem
Each sentence created an image that's relatable. Another good write 😏

I like how you kept tying everything back to leaves. It made it so cohesive. Beautiful poem, I really enjoyed it.

A beaurifully worded journey of finding your place in the world and experiencing the journey you undertske for the first time. These journeys hold much excitement within their travels, but also trepidation at how big the big wide world can be. Im sure it will be a wonderful adventure.
Just one thought. You write avoid the crushing footfalls of pass buyers. Maybe passers by scans better. Just a suggestion. Otherwise perfect.

Thank you!
I love how this piece develops from the beginning to the end. I could relate to it from the beginning and then it really spoke to me how the speaker goes from being completely lost to finding the strength to keep going.
"Stumbling through the flowers getting stronger with the hours
Finding my inner power and blooming like the closed up flower."
These sentences are so powerful. When you find that inner strength, you really do become unstoppable. Thank you for sharing this poem. I really enjoyed reading it.
