TH3 WAR

TH3 WAR

A Poem by Silence Dogood

The battle rages...

It can barely be contained for it simply tears the world apart...

Fighting against another like an eagle against a horse

The roar of gunfire rings across the grass, the flames from bombs and bullets scorching the air, singing the hair off of my skin...

We were not meant to be here.

A gunshot suddenly rings out like snow coming out of a summer day...

Sandbags pile one over the other

Safety seems assured...

Oh how wrong that assumption had been for we were not prepared for what happened...

We heard a small ticking and a man running toward us...the ticking was coming from his chest.

Men fell around me like the sandbags had seconds later...

Grains and blood were spilled and splattered everywhere, booting the breath from my lungs...

I had relized the terrible, horrifying truth...the only man standing was myself...

But who knows how long I would stay alive before becoming just like my fellow men?

But i walked on...
