What does a Prayer Mean???

What does a Prayer Mean???

A Poem by harman kour
"

I just thought about what a prayer means and penned down my thoughts on this...

"
As I enter the temple of God
I wonder how he feels
About the never-ending wants and grouse
He receives day in and day out!

I see people begging to Him
For prospects of a better life
I see others cursing Him
For making them endlessly strive!

As I join my hands to pray
I wonder what a Prayer means...
Does it mean bowing to God
Asking Him all that you want
Thanking Him for the wishes fulfilled
And still pleading for more and more
Expressing our agony and regrets
For The ones He paid to pay any heed!

Or does it mean offering things
Whenever a problem knocks our door
Does it mean singing His praises
So that He showers blessing more...
Or blaming and accusing Him
For all thats wrong in our world!

There are even those souls
Who trust Him implicitly
No matter what they face in life
Meditate upon Him deeply...

As I retreat my steps back...
I ponder over where I stand
How do I pray? Why do I pray?
What does prayer mean to me???

The rhyming in this is abrupt but that wasn't my priority... I just let my feeling flow and came up with this...

I'm not very religious these days but there was a time when I was and those were the sorts of things I found myself pondering. It seems like you've put a good deal of thought into this. I think you could be a little more clear at certain points but it was still good.

Words... are like faith...
once you let them go...chances are they will come back but not in the same fold
More like 7 times fold..and has nothing to do with prayer ...It's just is!
Can't add nor take away.. it is faith ! Can't question what you do not know.
Poetry like this one... it comes always with a message in mind.
That is why I like your poetry... you are the original! Thank you!

Boom Black Belt! Religion. Something I can never be sure of.

From the first line till the last, I kept being directed to the scenes of Bruce Almighty. How God does and deals with it, only He knows. And yes, I too ask these questions. Where does prayer take me? Is it merely for the sake of faith? Is it necessary to do so? Though I figured out, these questions are answered through age. It is only by then that we understand. I praise you for your ability to pen thoughts of age old wisdom. For technicals, I only saw one spelling miss and I'm pretty sure it's because of the WC glitch. Other than that, I like your flow without the limitation of meter and rhyme.

Good job.

I too wonder on the reason for prayer as I cannot understand a god that wishes to be worshiped I can think of no other thing a good man would detest besides worship

Wonderful questions to be asking ourselves throughout our lives, are included in this poem. There are many devices available in poetry to fascinate a reader and challenge a writer. Rhyming is one. I love to experiment with details and technique as well as forms. I like your topics and messages. A pleasure to read your work.
