Star Path

Star Path

A Poem by MaximumFlight

Watch as the stars bleed into the sky,
light so high above our world.
What destiny may be lies in the stars.
The night sky ties us all together.
In the darkness, lingering out of sight,
with all my might, fighting the monsters that hide.
My light may be small as a star above,
the stars bright enough to light my way.
What lies in the day is terrifying.
I don't mean to horrify you,
but many live to satisfy themselves alone.
I will rectify the path that was given to me.
Where you trails is dark,
she waits there for you alone.
If you do declare to change your path,
listen to the air as it whispers in your ear.
Hide from the light that wants to hurt you,
pick the side of right, wherever it leads.
They lied just to tear you apart,
pay no mind to their hate.
Within the darkness, I found my way.
While it may kill me,
say you'll move ahead of me.
Stay with me, together we'll fight.
The stars bleed for you,
the see the agony.
Whatever you may be,
they heed your journey.

That first line is a great opening. It grabs your attention and makes the reader wonder what's next. It has an atmospheric feel that takes you on a personal journey. A battle taking place against existing hate and the inner turmoil to survive. I like it!
