Tend Your Hearts

Tend Your Hearts

A Poem by McEltic

~~~
Twas gentle calm around us then
A feeling in the air
A soothing breeze
disturbed the cold
Its breath replaced despair
The stars had faded much too soon
mid - night
we wondered why
Then ...
a brighter glow than a million stars
lit up the eastern sky
Our path seen clear ... in all our years
we never felt this way
We left our flocks beneath its light
to tend our hearts that day
~
Three men we saw
in finest garb
with gifts to bless a king
Bestowed upon a man and wife
in a stable
for lesser things
We could not hear just what they said
we thought our place
forlorn
They called to us and said
"come forth"
"This night a child is born"
~~~
