Mourning sun

Mourning sun

A Poem by Anthony (aka Mr.e)
"

An ode to the sun

"

She illuminated my life

One touch enlightened slumbering spirits

The beauty of her soul shone through the window

She sails across the heavens with the grace of a goddess

A blissful essence spreads through the radiance of her aura

The nature of contagious ecstasy brightened all dark spaces

Mystical abilities raise life from an otherwise dead world

Unparalleled energy stimulated an electrifying bond

Forever united through universal desire

A rising star if you wish

Then came the day

Mourning of late December

Her presence has grown so thin

I rub my cold skin as she lays low

Frozen within her distant retreat

Blinded through dark days

How I miss her love

how I long for the sun to shine again . . .

' Mourning of late December ~ Her presence has grown so thin ~ I rub my cold skin as she lays low '
Such beautiful sadness

You've created a part incredible, part tragic adventure: a floating world splaying wondrous words from and with patience, artistry and skill.

An exquisite elegy to the winter sun waning...the sun is "she"-"she illuminated my life"....but in "Mourning of late December..her presence has grown so thin"...eloquently worded with rich imagery and metaphor, wordplay, flow and form that illustrates the waning sun. Amazing poem and image. Kudos!

Such beautiful, exalted words. The warmth and light of the sun, how like a soul that illuminates and lifts us. You express your devotion so deeply, for in summer she reigns supreme.

December... What is it about that damn month.. Electrifying... Your words, my friend... Stirring, when the unparalleled energy of bonds are lost... Frozen... This was gorgeous to read, and your mastery over such mythical terms... Wonderful... Illuminatingly penned...

Thank you for this amazing comment, I'm flattered. And to answer your question; nothing I write is completely intentional. Thanks again for your kind words.

I loved the imagery in this piece - both within the poem itself and within the poem's format. Just looking at this poem, the words on top form one big, strong "sun" and below sits a lesser sun, further away as it is in winter. It is very striking how well this matches with the content and imagery within the piece itself. Was this intentional? Either way it's brilliant and adds further depth to your work. Well done!
