To Girls Who Wait

To Girls Who Wait

A Poem by Mel Jayne
"

Waiting for a girl.

"
A girl waits alone,
For a friend,
She says. But then
Her mind wanders
To what could have been,
Of Venessa and Aubry,
All short skirts and wonderful eyes.

When her friend is there
They laugh,
Catch glances,
Stare.

There isn't a name
For what they are,
A thing separate from friends.
No intimacy,
Yet.

The girl had been waiting
To leave her town,
To set herself free.
Had waited until she would find
A girl to call her own.

I'm glad you liked it!
I suppose the girl knows this is not the true intimacy she seeks. But the world is big, and she will be waiting.

yes she will.
it's like when guys are best buds..not intimate but that special closeness only they share...sometimes only another of the same sex really understands.
