I had a dream about you

For once the title resonates. I had this dream about my partner that I recently became official with.

Love was always confusing to me

But to you, It's as simple as can be

I love you, you love me

We stay together for eternity

But can time measure what that means?

In just one snap-then

Anything can happen

So here is what it feels like for me

I love you more than

the grass

the sun

the sand

the sea

and the way you always wait for me

when i go on shopping sprees

I love you more than

flowers

and books

stories with long hooks

fantasy worlds

the way you say "my girl"

but you always mean it fluidly (like I'm not your property)

I love you more than 

long walks 

debates

and casual talks

but especially the way you never mind

that I can't seem to make up mine

when we're going to order food

But this isn't all

I know because it all feels new

and I'm always so sure of you-

Even when I'm not

which sometimes is a lot

but only because I'm afraid

and then you hug me and I'm okay.

and this is why I love you.

This was actually a poem i dreamed about, and somehow remembered when I woke up.

Quite a bit of my poetry comes from sleep or as I'm on the verge of waking up. Sometimes I will have a word or sentence in my head before laying down to sleep only to wake up in mid dream with a few more lines appearing in my mind. Inspiration finds a way when you least expect it.

I was very surprised that I could remember it at all. It was like looking back into my dream to the piece of paper it was written on to copy it onto my phone before I forgot. So surreal.
