Double Troubles

Double Troubles

A Poem by MelissaAndres
"

Short poem about a single Mom and how she copes with everyday troubles.

"

Three screaming kids
Dirty dishes in the sink
Willy spilled the glue, Mom!
And, what's that terrible stink?

Paper work's a piling
The computer's got a glitch
Where the Hell's that stupid file?
And why can't I be rich?

The brand new roof is leaking
The car won't start again
Muddy paw prints on the floor
Don't make me count to ten!

If he hadn't walked away
Her roles would not be double
Worrying would do no good
Granny said, Don't borrow trouble.

All tucked in to their cozy beds
At the end of a crazy day
She kissed each forehead gently
Keeping anger from the bay.

She was oh so seriously worn out
Tears filled her dull blue eyes
But she managed a small smile
And from her prayers she did rise.

God had been her Solid Rock
For many a long, hard year
With Him closely by her side
She could have no fears.

I dont know how they do it. I can hardly find my own face in the morning, yet parents and especially single parents can cook, clean, wash, scrub, work, feed and clothe their kids, talk child fluently, multi task beyond male belief and hold conversations simultaneously with all their kids, while fixing their hair, making them look presentable for school, while planning the groceries, making appointments, taking them to after school activities and a hundred other things I am way too male to comprehend.
Its not said often enough...woman, we salute you :)

The wild days seem less painful after they are done. Thank you Melissa for sharing the excellent poetry.

I'm glad and you are welcome.
Sounds like a very difficult job for anyone. I can understand how stressful it could be, it would be stressful enough with two parents let alone one. I am glad she looked to God to help her stay encouraged and not to give up!

Good Job

G' Mornin Mel. If this were an Epic poem it might still be way too short! Perhaps you could balance the rough with the heart a lil?
