Growing Pains

08/19/07

It's been swell,
But when the swelling's gone down.
Will you be there
To stand my gound?
I'm afraid of what I'm feeling;
Even while reciprocated,
I know that we're both catching
This wave that's understated.
But am I so easy I satiate;
Then in the name of balance incidentally devastate,
Ne'er the need to evacuate?
Clear-eyed black jaguar,
You come to me on a stormy wind -
A-gush with sensuality -
My intense lover and closest friend.
We struggle with and against projections,
Each other's and our own protections,
Addiction, sexuality
Compulsions and obsessions.
I am hypersensitive
And more difficult than you know,
But what's the use of growing pains
If we don't grow?
So hold my hand and rise with me
Above the past to bless this gain:
Our love, the greatest consequence
From which I've no wish to refrain.
