That Which You Portray

That Which You Portray

A Poem by Melobldnfr
"

There is no mending a broken plastic tray...

"

How is it my words blind you rather than make you see?

How is it that they bind you rather than set you free?

I exist in guarded agony, and reach for Anger's blade,

Resisting that which haunts me, though I am not afraid.

Sadness screams, a weighted sigh,

I recall too much from out your eyes.

But for a moment could have sworn

You looked at me, and were by no means torn -

That you had finally, if even but for a moment,

With acute and accurate vision

Saw me and the truth without Stubborn's opposition.

I felt the ice of realizing what you've done,

And done and done again, that cannot be undone,

Immobilize the features of your face

In a way that every moment of every day now

You try to erase.

How am I to support the pretending?

There is no mending a broken plastic tray,

So I bide, my exit pending,

In hopes of again facing a day

Of standing unaccused

Of that which you portray.

I loved every bit of this, so good. My favourite lines were the last two, although there was so much here that was memorable. Thanks.
