The Best You Ever Had

The Best You Ever Had

A Poem by Melobldnfr
"

Being forced to walk away

"

05/31/12

They will remember
Where you "forget",
They will recall and feel
Your being too foolish to regret.
They will hear your cries of loneliness
After squandering what you had.
They will know that you made the mess,
And it went bad because you made it bad.
In time the exact happenings may fade,
But the feelings will still be there
Of the little things I did
That showed them each individual care:
The hugs, kisses, and conversations
Even Mommy'd not dare -
Too much of a child herself,
Who'd not face truths, but live in fear.
Sorry for it all
Says it all
As I stand tall while still you jab.
Que sera sera,
Getting smaller on the horizon,
The best you ever had.

Author's Note

Melobldnfr
I found the photograph I've included, so perfect, under a search that led me to http://thechrishuff.com/?cat=1, under which is an "uncategorized" writing by Chris Huff called "The One That Got Away". I encourage you to read his work as well. It is ironic how much this particular work of his I found via my search for art may very well fit my situation better than even I just wrote above. It doesn't say who took the photo, though. No copyright infringement intended.

When a door closes sometimes we want to kick it in and yell "But I belong here" . There is another door that waits for the poet and inside that door are much better things. I know it is hard for me to see that sometimes myself when I am in the depths of despair. Emotions well penned here Mel. XX
