A year gone by....

A year gone by....

A Poem by Maria
"

My mother passed away last year, after a 5 1/2 year long fight with pancreatic cancer.

"
A year gone by.
Time never stops,
no matter if you die.
Oh mother, how I miss you!
Your curls and beautiful smile.
A year gone by.
An emptiness felt,
deep within my soul.
Oh how we miss your
laughter and dancing!
A year gone by,
Is it so?
Sadly it is real.
Oh if I could turn
time back, and have
you once again.
A year gone by,
Much has changed,
nothing  has been moved.
Oh if you could see
us now, what would you
think?
A year gone by,
You are no longer here...
And we feel lost.
Oh if we could reunite,
that be great.
A year gone by,
and another coming about,
yet this emptiness,
will never melt.

Your poem is about ten times more upbeat than I expected after reading about your mom’s fight with pancreatic cancer which must be the worst of all to live thru while watching someone you care about who’s dying. You’ve done a sparkling job of conveying the very brightness that you say you are now missing from your mom’s existence in your lives. Your poem SHOWS instead of tells. We can actually see how it was & how you now feel. It’s not so much describing details as conveying the actual power of these feelings in your writing. That’s very special. I’m always glad to find some of your writing that I haven’t read yet! *smile* Fondly, Margie

This is very simple and sweet, yet written with powerful emotion. We are always connected, even if the physical body has passed. Thank you for sharing!
