A Tragic Loss, No Wonderful Gain

A Tragic Loss, No Wonderful Gain

A Poem by The Majestic e-Gal
"

Dedicated to my late grandfather. May you rest in peace.

"
He was born into this world,
With a purpose, a destiny,
He lived his life,
Fully and happily.

His name brought peace,
Amongst his brothers and sisters,
Children and grandchildren,
Nephews and nieces.

He stayed for a long time,
More than 65 years,
Playing with his relatives,
What could have he yearned more?

My family and his,
Would sit at the patio,
Chatting for hours,
Ignorant of time flying fast.

I visited him,
Over the time we would meet,
He would give me a hug,
And not to forget, a kiss.

It wasn't until,
That day he had a massive stroke,
We rushed him to the hospital,
Before it was too late.

He was admitted immediately,
The doctors gave him some medicine,
He stayed there for over a week,
Patiently waiting to start healing.

His wife was worried,
His children afraid,
For they knew that his time,
Was almost up.

His candle has been burning,
For years and years,
Until that one day,
Did the light go off.

His stroke returned,
Hungry and vexed,
Ready to take someone's life,
And that someone was him.

At 3.30pm,
Did his heart fail,
To throb and beat,
For any moment longer.

Later did the doctors consoled,
The family of the man,
"We tried, we're so sorry."
"But we can't avoid the nature itself."

I was not there,
When he passed away,
Believe it or not,
I was watching videos on YouTube.

Suddenly Mom appeared,
Her face clearly tear stained,
She told me about our loss,
About him who has left this world.

I could not believe my mother,
I thought she was blabbering,
But it was crystal clear,
That my grandfather DID leave.

His funeral was the next day,
My family visited the house.
And there I saw him,
Laying in his coffin surrounded by people.

It was a tragic loss,
With no wonderful gain,
For now his death has left a mark,
On all of our hearts, including one.

Every year now,
Would his wife cry hopelessly,
On the day her husband died,
Which unfortunately is her birthday.

To my dear grandfather,
Will we miss you,
We will cherish our memories,
With you, every one.

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.
