Creation of a Holy Weapon

Creation of a Holy Weapon

A Poem by Michael Thrower
"

My thoughts on how holy weapons were created back in the medieval ages, or in fantasy settings. Actually, in fantasy settings, this is pretty accurate. I thought it would be cool to write out a scene.

"

Cling!

Flames leapt from hot iron

Cling!

The smith hammered.

“May this blade be blessed.”

Cling!

“May it bring victory to our people!”

Sizzle…

“May it protect our families.”

Cling!

“And may this blade be cursed.”

Sizzle…

Flame licked the edge of sword

The mighty craftsman prayed this day

That God send his people a weapon

That sings His holy name.

Cling!

“Blessed be our faith.”

Cling!

“Blessed be our fathers.”

“Blessed be those who wander.”

The smith raised sword high into the air

Praising its radiant light that glared

Of holiness, prayer, and skill

This blade shall bring appeal

Cling!
