Comfortable Mum

Comfortable Mum

A Chapter by The Poetry of Michal (Mitak) Mahgerefteh
"

About the poem: Father was pushed to the side...was never given the opportunity to voice opinions. he was expected to be there for Mother...no matter what. We called him The Mute.

"

Comfortable Mum

briefly  she rises from the blue sofa

every muscle aching   slowly walking

toward the balcony   peering through

darkness cloaks the city   bleaching

every last spot of color   there must

be a moon   a new cycle to life   she thinks

Father   watching   a familiar weariness

on his face   as if all the waves of the

Mediterranean gather to wash over him

when every cell in her body raged

he was there   in years of silent layers

          waiting   for the outcome
