Trapped

Trapped

A Poem by Lost in Wonderland

Darkness clouds my downcast eyes

Even as the bright line shines

Hear them call out my name

Time to get my story straight

Put on that perfectly painted smile

That ought to satisfy them for a while

Wait until they say goodbye

Curl into a little ball and Cry

It seems I'm all alone

My heart becoming cracked stone

If I block out the love, I block out the shame

And all the pain may fly away

Here all the roses bloom black

I can’t cut myself any slack

Seek forgiveness in the vast night sky

Try to shake off all the lies

I’m held a pretty prisoner inside

It’s a battle between dark and light

As I hum my melancholy melody

Can anybody save me?

Very depressing, but very beautiful. You always amaze me with your ease at imagery. I loved it! ^_^

Thank you Emily! I always love getting your kind reviews:)
Melancholic images embed themselves into my mind with the use of your poetry, and I say I do admire the scene conjured in my brain. Darkened roses, quite a powerful and underused statement. This was a clever mix between overused and underused phrases, brilliant.
