Onto the Next

Onto the Next

A Poem by Dave G.

I’ve seen your face for the first time

Said nice to meet you and I ask why

A fragile heart is all you’ll find

I’m onto the next and I don’t mind

Onto the next for the first time

I’ve seen your face a dozen times

Fell in love when I came inside

A hint of truth in my caring lies

I’m onto the next and I don’t mind

Onto the next right in due time

I’ve seen your face a thousand times

Black the luster where you used to shine

How true is love that isn’t blind

Onto the next and I don’t mind

Onto the next just one more time

I’ve seen your face for the last time

Well-timed tears as I watch us die

Left with nothing but my sense of pride

I’m onto the next and I don’t mind

Onto the next for the rest of time
