Find it in your heart to accept the truth

Find it in your heart to accept the truth

A Poem by Mikki

He walked in,

And said hello with the happiness in his eyes.

I walked by

And said hello with the hurt that sat inside.

He can see right through me,

He can feel my breath on his neck.

He can see right through me,

He can sense the pain that caused this ship to wreck.

But I can’t see where this book leaves us today.

All I know, is if you came a few days ago,

Maybe I’d be ready for this all again.

But I’m not ready.

No, I’m not ready for another tragic love story

Of a boy and a girl

Who met on the corner of 84th and Broadway.

He said, “Come inside, it’s raining hard where you are.”

We came so close and I said, “It’s too cold.”

And there we stood,

In the rain that will never end.

He can see right through me,

He can feel my breath on his neck.

He can see right through me,

He can sense the pain that caused this ship to wreck.

I just made pretend

With all the colors of our lives.

He poured faster than I could possibly realize.

I began to understand the words in this book.

All I know, is if you came a few days ago,

I’d be ready for this all again.

But I’m not ready.

No, I’m not ready for another heartfelt novel

Of a boy and a girl

Who met on the corner of 84th and Broadway.

He said, “Sit down and let me give you a life.”

We came so close and I said, “It’s not so bad.”

And there we sat,

In the rain that will never end.

He can see right through me,

He can feel my breath on his neck.

He can see right through me,

He can sense the pain that caused this ship to wreck.

I laughed a little harder

Than I ever remember laughing.

He told me his secrets from under the blankets.

I now understand this book better than before.

All I know, is if you came a few days ago

I’d be as ready as I am now.

I am ready.

Yes, I’m ready for another beautiful story

Of a boy and a girl

Who met on the corner of 84th and Broadway.

He said, “Be in my life, you changed it forever.”

We were so close and I said, “Everything’s perfect.”

And there we were,

Looking up at the clear sky.

He can see right through me,

He can feel my breath on his neck.

He can see right through me,

He can sense the pain that caused this ship to wreck.

Now I watch him walk away

The pain stronger than before.

He held my hand before saying his first goodbye.

I can’t read this book again.

I know I’ve said it before

But you spoiled the ending by the middle.

And all I know is if you came a few days ago

It’d never change a thing.

I’m not ready.

No, I’m not ready for another goodbye.

I’m not ready for the rain to ever end.
