The Tide

The Tide

A Poem by Mimozi

You sweep in like the tide
Swift and unstoppable
Satiating and suffocating
Demanding immediate surrender
Drowning all resistance
Plunging in deep
Taking what you want,
Quenching my need
...
Then at dawn you are gone
Your retreat swifter than your advance,
Running back to the deep that is your life
Leaving me behind, soaked in the puddles of your aftermath
A little confused,
Barren,
A bit sore,
Yet triumphant,
Gloating with the realization of your compulsion
For you may run,
But you won't, can't stay away for long
The tide always comes back.

A outstanding poem. Description brought me in with the ocean. I like the whole poem. Ending is true. The tide always comes again. The poem made me smile. A pleasure to read.

Very nice. I love the ocean as a metaphor for poetry. It is so easy to express all of human emotion within the ocean. I am wanting to write something about the ocean. I have to ask what your intention was with the following lines;

"A little confused,
Barren,
A bit sore,
Yet triumphant"

Is this representing a woman's emotions the day after sex with her lover? I kinda read it that way but you know poetry's art is seen with a thousand different eyeballs. I want to read more of your stuff. :)
