cheerio

cheerio

A Poem by Shaun Rudie

have my back to

everyone,

except the seagulls,

don't like exposing my back to

the random

the unknown,

not a part of my

training

steady breeze off

the water,

seagulls play in it,

glide effortless smooth on

stretched wings

body-sized choppy waves

rustle-clacking

I love the water

love looking far out and

away

there is wonder

worlds beyond...

6' away

5' now

a fat seagull determines I am

worth watching

 closely

not concerned at all

found some cheerios,

eats them in front of me while

the sun makes my

arms hot

he moved too fast for

me to sketch him

- guess he wasn't too

fat after all
