ღ Love doesn't seem to be enough  ღ

I looked at him in despair 

Knowing that nothing would ever change

I realized that we no longer care

We both figured out that after all it's not so strange

 

We ended up drifting so far apart

Living underneath the same old roof

Does any of us even remember how did it all start

Does our hatred need any additional proof?

Anger and resentment growing wilder

As we avoid any rational conversation

What's the point of pretending being any wiser 

If all roads lead to one dead-end destination?

All our hopes are bleeding upon walls of deception

All our dreams have been savagely crashed by another face of reality

I could have tried harder, but with no possible intersection

Why would I even risk for you whatever is left of my sanity?

I could scream, I could cry

I would yet remain unseen, remain unheard

I could give up, and I could still try

I would always end up wounded and hurt.

Nothing stays the same

Change is the constant truth

We might keep this last name

But everything else is gone with our youth 

How you've made me grow older

Although it's my youngest years

You made me crawl colder 

Trying to hide from my own fears 

Is it you ... Is it me ?

Whose fault is it now that it's all gone?

Is it fate .. Is it reality ?

Does it even matter after all that's been done? 

In dark endless circles we keep turning.

The void of our emptied heart is corroding us.

In flames of self remorse we keep burning.

Losing faith in everything we once have put our trust.

I've believed in us, believed in love

Saw you changing in someone I hardly knew.

After all, love doesn't seem to be enough

When it comes to saving our {me and you}.  ©

Such a sad, heartbreaking read, but the message is true - once drifted apart and love has gone, what's left? What's the point of pretending, putting on a front for all outsiders to believe? Great poem!
