every so often

every so often

A Poem by MiriamMB

every so often

I

bite off more than I can

chew,

I prefer something hard,

serrated,

metal,

rusted, and

I savor the way

it splits the skin

open

on it's way down

to my stomach,

occasionally,

I touch the scars

on my neck

as if to say;

“look,

I’m not stagnant,

I've taken my share of risks”
