The opposite of love is not hate, but indifference

The opposite of love is not hate, but indifference

A Poem by 水希

The opposite of love is not hate, but indifference

That’s why I can’t stand it.

When he says he hates her,

It means he still cares.

Because something inside him still stirs

When he hears her name.

Because his heart still pounds

When he sees her image.

The feeling may be a tinge of pain.

The feeling may not be the fires of love.

But it still holds the warmth of its embers.

I tell myself it doesn't bother me.

I tell myself he's over her.

I tell myself not to concern myself

With a past that I wasn't a part of.

But it doesn't change the fact

That something was there.

It doesn't change the fact

That I wasn’t the first to touch his heart,

But I will cherish it as if I was.

Hello, I guess. I'm 19. I write mostly dark and deep poetry, but I'm not averse to other genres. Reviews are cool. I take criticism well. I don't mind talking to others, so that's okay too. I like art.. more..
