Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary

A Poem by The Tea Party Mouse.
"

A poem concerning Mary Tudor, first daughter of Henry VIII and the "first" Queen of England. This is from the perspective of those who opposed her during the Marian Persecutions. (School assignment)

"

Mary is a tyrant

Mary has no heart

Mousey Jane Grey

Queen for nine days

Forced by family

Wears her cousin’s crown

Bloody Mary

Locks her up

The rebellion presses on

Cousin Jane’s father leads

Mary responds

The war wages on

In our own country

The English

Are burned black

For blasphemy

And religious treason

Bloody Mary

Locks us up

Mary is a tyrant

Mary has no heart

I had no form in mind when writing this. I just went for repetition.

It doesn't even rhyme, but the flow was so good, I was reading it like it was. Well done.

*whispers* I love you in the non gay way! LOL why because I'm obsessed with the Tudor Era and with the whole drama between Elizabeth and Mary.
Great poem on the basis that I disliked Mary but again I'm curious if she was such a bore.

I like this poem. I like anything to do with History. You sum it up in so few lines. She was a hard lady. A excellent poem.
