Caught On Canvas

Caught On Canvas

A Poem by HereThereBeTygers
"

the ache of a now unobtainable dream.

"
She awoke abruptly.
Her mind filled with an array of colours,
caught on canvas.
Her mouth tingled with the feel of him.
She touched her lips,
as if to feel the tiny vibrations.
With every breath,
the memories swelled in her head.
She could smell it,
the life path she thought she had chosen.
A life that still existed in a parallel universe,
unobtainable now.
She stretched out her arms to grasp it from deep within.
She closed her eyes,
again to embrace the darkness.
She wanted back the dream....

A unique poem that addresses a dream involving love but waking up craving for the dream to return. Very easy to relate to at that. I love the creativity of this work along with the metaphor of her mind compared to an abstract painting. To me, it symbolizes the abstract qualities of dreams and how the experiences within are also abstract. Yet, it's simultaneously addicting.

"A life that still existed in a parallel universe,"
By far my favorite line in the poem. It just grasps me as the reader to understand the perspective of the speaker.

I find this poem very engaging and unique overall. Brilliant work.
