Carved still-life

Carved still-life

A Poem by R. Ellison
"

A statue of a man

"

When

Do you become more than the statue

You've been carved to be

Have you yet broken the mold

Or are you stuck

Imbedded forever

In your slab of Marble

Not moving

Never changing

Content to be seen in the light

In which you are put

Are you truely stone

Molded to anothers' design

Or do you have the will

To be something more
