Kayla's Light

March nights

Oh, used to shine so bright

Now filled with crimson-red dreams

Taking heights to new extremes 

Holding tight to every memory 

Phone calls, notes passed

All seem vague in color within my black and white reality 

Recognition attacks like a contagion 

Taking hold to the remembrance of your scent

Warm embraces 

And the truth is I miss you

These late night dreams are no longer lonely

Filled with tears and silenced screams

And separate ways we were forced to go

Oh, what was he hoping for?

Everythings' clearly dying now

Suddenly, I realize I need you

I can hear the memories being crushed

Please..Please come back..

Before it's too late..

Before everything slips away..

Author's Note

This is dedicated to my best friend Kayla who I love with all my heart. She was forced to a separate school and I wasn't allowed to say goodbye. It was my fault she had to move and I miss her like crazy.

Those are the worst sort of good-bye's, the one's that never take place. All you can do is remember the memories you had with that person. Then you have to move on in life or try to maintain the friendship. You've touched on this theme very well within your poem. Great job. :)
