Soulstice

Soulstice

A Poem by Ana B.

Wandering star of my nights,

Shine through my poor lit home.

Lost the taste of those scanty delights

That warmed up the soul

                                                 that I have on loan…

And yet I listen -

To the cosmos gossip in the rain,

To the sugary rhymes that glisten

Down on this life, so insistently mundane.

It’s hard to see you happy, dear reflection

Not when you live in a head full of dreams;

Not when your heart finds an objection

To every thought that your mind so fixedly brings…

Is death a disease?

Or a figment of imagination…

modern science just knows better that death is the end of life unless you have connected with my Lord Jesus Christ the extender of Life itself.

Modern lifestyles are fickle, lack substance, morality and authenticity which over time, often has a culminating, emulsifying effect of weakening the soul and diminishing the ego, much more enriching and soul nourishing to draw strength and sustenance from Mother Nature's plethora of pleasures!

A quite poignant and pensive poetic contemplation!

Thank you for the beautiful words Tom :)
I love your artwork. Your poem is well-stated, but I can't grasp all the nuances, as I'm more of a straightforward person. My favorite parts are the way the title seems like a combination of "soulmate" and "solstice" -- an intriguing made-up word . . . and also the line: "it's hard to see you happy, reflection" -- brilliant & original.

Thank you very much barleygirl :)
I think 'cosmic gossip' might read better but you already debated that with yourself didn't you Ana - cosmic can be misread as 'great' in modern speak so I know now why you chose 'cosmos'

This truly sounds/reads like a prayer - to the Universe. Sad but not in a woe-is-me kind of way, kind of resigned.
Hi by the way, hope you're well Ana.

Thank you Poetic Beauty :)
Sugary rhymes that glisten, that listen, that... Wow... Consistently, insistently... Mundane... A soul on loan, and that is that... Gorgeous music and deep meaning... Sweet meaning, even... Cosmically penned...

Thank you very much Silente :)
i like how this touches on practicality, however
that head full of dreams is going to be essential when holding off the inevitable.
Just my take on it. i always enjoy wrapping my brain around these poems of yours.
