Bountiful bewilderment

Bountiful bewilderment

A Poem by Ana B.

It’s hard to see the rhyme in life.

The beauty of stillness, the night’s gentle sigh.

But storms have to exhale as well…

As I contemplate my handmade hell,

Do I even want to escape?

Something’s wrong with this world.

Dipped in the abstruse sapphire

We worship the essence of all that is cold,

Somehow adding fuel to the never ending fire.

The darker the shadow, the brighter the light, I know.

Still can’t connect with the eternity’s flow

Endless directions, yet nowhere to go

I wish I knew what I want, and yet, I DON’T KNOW.

In the spinning emptiness that awaits

Nothing is there; just a phantom, that culminates

The ashes of past, the fire of now,

The smoke of the future - unbreakable vow.

And every other dusk, I question

The vagary of this controlled

And merciless reflection

In which I somehow asked for a role

And now I refuse to play.

How could I, when I forgot the lines?

Thank you :)
I love the way this artwork goes with your topsy-turvy message. I love the way things are upside down in your artwork (stars below ocean?) I remember never feeling I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, and the whole time, my life was going by pretty quickly. Your poem gives the rushed breathless sensation of how this can feel. The good news is that life often brings great things even when we are clueless what we're looking for! *smile* Fondly, Margie

(: your very welcome Ana
memorizing the lines of life, only to eventually forget them.
this poem is about just feeling life...the good, the bad, the ugly of it...the hell on earth, the confusion of it all...and that question of why so many tend to "worship the essence of all that is cold"--

i have reached a point in life where it is easy to relate to this piece...questions never answered, so much uncertainty of where i have been and where i am now..and has life been a success or just an existence.

There are stylistic issues I am not a huge fan of but the essence of this is quite beautiful... in an "ugly" way, a truthful way.

No one remembers the lines, or maybe no one ever knew the lines... either way, that's the essence of life - unaware but searching. (being self aware is usually painful anyway)

Well done AnaBee

It's always boring these days. But anyway, I really am glad I came across this again.
There's something definitely wrong with the world we inhabit. Or I suppose it's the fact of us forgetting our lines with the roles we've got to play which hardens the deal of life. ..
This poses questions to which we all have been seeking answers to, to no avail yet, sadly.
Nice reading you after a long time, Ana. :)

Same here, ah...
You're welcome, a pleasure always (:
I've suffered the same predicament for years. I'm probably lost in the shadow, not knowing where to find the right light.

Nicely done, Ana.

Indeed, a familiar feeling.
Thank you for stopping by, Relic :)
A lovely poem Ana. Not good at reviews, but 'The rhyme of life', the question of the ages. Your poem poses the question beautifully. Well done!
